Experiences that made me Emily Kahn

In this series, we ask Imagination talent all about the experiences that have made them who they are. This month we spoke to Emily Kahn, Account Manager from our New York studio.

Tell us what you do…

I’m a translator! I help interpret client feedback for our internal creative & production teams. I review our internal work with a client eye with the goal to catch things before the client ever notices.

A bit about me…

If I’m not eating, sleeping, or working, you will find me at the closest AMC (yes I have A-list!)

The experience that has influenced me the most…

I started going to San Diego Comic Con 3 years ago and it reminds me why I love what I do every year! Seeing all of the different fandoms in one place, showing off their fan art, cosplays, and just seeing their genuine joy connecting with others on their shared passion, is why I love live events!

The person that inspired you the most…

Not to be a cliché but my mom is my biggest inspiration. She has shown me the importance of teamwork and how a great team is made through trust in one another.

The piece of work I’m most proud of…

I helped with a few of the Jaguar Type 00 launch events. Being able to see the concept car craned onto a roof was a sight to see! Having so many specific environmental needs for the car (temperature, lighting, etc.) was a fun challenge for our team and it was amazing seeing how it came to life.

For me, a good experience has to have…

Passionate attendees!

If I could change one thing about how our industry works, it would be…

I wish that events were less cost prohibitive. While you can have events at a small scale and with a small budget, I think there are so many niches out there that would benefit from a larger immersive experience. Thankfully conventions like Comic Con exist!

Any advice to my younger self…

It’s a team effort! Behind the scenes of every event is a strategist who set the path, creative team who set the event’s visual identity, and between 10 – 100 other individuals who are all needed to bring the event to life!

For the things worth sharing, we’ve got a newsletter for that.
