This July, our New York and Detroit studios proudly participated in the BLAC Summer Intern programme, welcoming Joash Nyarko, Mubarak Savage, Nicholas Slade, and Jasmine Ingram into their teams.

Taking place over twelve weeks, the BLAC internship provides a platform for creative thinkers at agencies nationwide, fostering innovation and professional growth. Our Interns engaged in collaborative projects, leveraging shared resources to bring fresh perspectives and creative solutions. Upon completion, interns join a network of peers and industry leaders offering ongoing career support long after the internship concludes.

As their internships came to an end, we spoke to our interns to hear about their experiences at Imagination.

Joash Nyarko, a recent graduate from Hunter College majored in Journalism and played basketball. He prides himself on having an inquisitive mind and loves all things sports, creating and editing videos, and creative writing reflected on his time at Imagination New York: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Imagination New York! The team was warm and welcoming from my first day. They wasted no time in getting me on board with their projects and allowing me to help whilst learning about the industry. As for strategy in particular, my supervisors took the time to answer all of my questions and gave me thorough insight on how to develop effective research and strategies for a variety of brands. Along with strategy, I was also able to learn about the agency’s creative process and use creative AI software like Midjourney. This was an incredible learning experience for me and I would love to continue working in the industry in the future.”

Mubarak Savage, a rising sophomore at New York University’s Stern School of Business, studies Data Science and Journalism. A Native New Yorker, Mubarak has prior experience in social media and event marketing, summarised his experience in a poem:

Nicholas Slade, hailing from Detroit, Michigan, brought a vibrant passion for art direction and design to his internship at Imagination. With a knack for leading over 400 people in virtual events and projects, he sharpened his leadership and organisational skills within his creative group: “Working with imagination was genuinely such an insightful experience. My coworkers are some of the most helpful and kind people that I've met in the workplace. On my first day, I was worried that I couldn't compare to the industry professionals that I may be paired with. But little did I know, they chose me for a reason. After seeing the potential just from a two-minute video, the team knew I was worth investing in. Now, two months later I'm leaving the company with new skills, a head held high and a brain full of endless imagination.”

Jasmine Ingram, from the University of Tennessee, majoring in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communications also shared her experience at Imagination Detroit: “My experience at Imagination has been amazing this summer. I came into this internship looking to gain project management skills while working face-to-face with clients. I was able to acquire these skills and so much more! I’ve always had a passion for creating campaigns that resonate with audiences. Being a part of the magic for clients I have always adored has been a dream come true. Imagination Detroit has the most inspiring account team that allowed me to be a sponge and soak up all their expertise. My team included me in projects from the moment I walked in the door, while also encouraging and guiding me every step of the way. I'm leaving this place inspired and excited to transfer my project management, organisation and relationship-building skills into my future endeavours. Imagination Detroit has kick-started my future, making this summer unforgettable. Thank you Imagination Detroit for getting me out of my comfort zone and leaving a lasting impact on me.” Jasmine is also involved with the Campus Events Board and the University Spirit Squad.

We’re proud to have supported BLAC on its mission to champion a more diverse and inclusive creative industry.
