In this series, we ask Imagination talent all about the experiences that have made them who they are. This month we spoke to Destiny Bruderick, Senior Digital Designer from our Detroit studio.
A bit about me…
Sup! I’m a Digital Designer with a soft spot for handmade things. Tech and tactile, all the way. Whether that’s motion graphics for large events or crocheting weird little guys, I play in three soccer leagues at DCFC and love getting outside to hike and travel with the dogs whenever I can. On the flip side, I crochet and make tufted rugs… because fibre art deserves the same respect as any medium (it’s art, not just a craft).

The creative experience that influenced me the most…
Recently, I took a trip to Copenhagen, and everything, from the bikes, buildings, and bakeries, seemed to flow together. Even a neighbourhood coffee shop had better branding than expensive ad campaigns. It was making me think differently about how design can quietly shape everyday experiences. Subtle smart choices can make something feel effortlessly cool and hip. Ever since my trip, I’ve tried to bring that kind of thoughtful simplicity into the work I do daily.

My industry hero is…
My industry hero is Edgar Wright. His editing style is so sharp and intentional. I love his use of quick cuts, camera movements, and sound design. The comedy isn’t just in the script or the acting; it’s baked into the visuals. Watching his work made me realise how much editing and timing can shape tone, pace, and humour.
The piece of work I’m most proud of…
Definitely the video I created with the Detroit Youth Choir for their cover of “Sweet Child of Mine.” We shot it in response to the Uvalde and Sandy Hook tragedies. I helped direct the shoot and edited the piece. It even got reshared by Barack Obama, which was surreal. More than anything, I’m proud that it gave the kids a voice and left a mark bigger than just a video.

The piece of work that makes me cringe…
Honestly? Anything I made 5+ years ago makes me want to hide under a blanket. But that’s kind of the point, right? It just shows how much I’ve grown. Trends move fast, styles change, and what once felt cutting-edge can feel super cringey in hindsight. If I wasn’t cringing at old work, I probably wouldn’t be evolving. Cringe is all a part of the process!
The experience I wish I had created…
A full-on Detroit City FC match takeover would be fun to work on. I’ve always thought it would be sick to create an immersive experience that celebrates the team and the community around it. Maybe one day…
Advice to my 18-year-old self…
Stop overthinking it…Be more confident in what you bring to the table, even if you’re still figuring it out. You don’t need to have it all sorted (spoiler: no one does).
What’s next?
I’m gearing up for the next motorsports season launch event with Ford, which has become one of my favourite annual projects. The last few have been a blast to work on and watch come to life. Each year gets bigger, louder, and more creative.
