Deep Water Exploration VR Experience

As a pioneer in deep water exploration, Shell wanted to find a way to bring to life the significance, scale and extent of oil and gas reserves in deep water basins around the world. Shell wanted to ‘Go where no one else can go’ and accessed the deep oceans, an ordinarily impossible place to reach, using virtual reality.

Using the Oculus Rift headset, users got the full experience from sky to ocean floor, as they glided above the sea in a helicopter and got submersed in the water - even experiencing a swim with a whale!

The VR content has been used at over 15 events worldwide and to engage with Shell’s stakeholders and clients.
