Every five years, Canon showcases its most future forward technologies in an inspiring forum across New York, Paris, and Tokyo as part of Canon Expo. In 2015 we asked ourselves how we could we position the brand as creative innovator. We set out to feature the brand's technology in unique ways and generated a shared experience where visitors joined Canon in seeing what was previously considered impossible.
We designed the creative solution for a 3-day Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC. A Canon Central Park acted as the hub around which Canon technology spread into 12 zones of Canon stories, creating an immersive 145,000 sqft Canon experience.
The concept was inspired by the vibrancy and vigor of New York City; each zone encapsulated the aesthetics and emotions of an exceptional location in the city, and given the consistent NYC theme, each zone built upon the strength of its neighbor.
In the Sports Zone, we created a scaled Yankees stadium with live baseball players to demonstrate the capabilities of Canon’s Super-Telephoto and broadcast lenses. In the Industry Zone, we used the form language of Brooklyn Naval Yards as a backdrop to display the potential of Canon Mixed Reality technologies.
