Vodafone's 5G comes to London

On 3rd July, we helped Vodafone launch its new 5G network, at the Reinvent 2019 Conference at the iconic Sky Garden in London.

In attendance were key influencers, analysts, stakeholders and high-profile sports stars such as Juan de Jongh (Wasp Ruby Centre) and Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton – the new Vodafone, UK Ambassador.

The Reinvent 19 conference

Several speeches and presentations took place throughout the day from crucial speakers setting out the reinvent strategy. This included the 5G roadmap, consumer and business propositions, and insights on how customers will use technology to connect for a better future.

Guests were treated to the world's first haptic rugby tackle to demonstrate the 5G network's super-low latency and its ability to transmit a lot of data with no time lag. This is where Juan de Jongh and Will Rowland, both stars of the Wasps Rugby team, stepped in.

A tackle to remember

Juan, who was at the Sky Garden, stood on stage wearing a state-of-the-art Tesla Haptic suit. His teammate Will Rowlands who was more than 100 miles away in the Wasps Ricoh Stadium in Coventry made a massive tackle on a tackle cylinder. The impact of the tackle was felt in real-time by de Jongh in London. Two young fans from a local Rugby Academy also had a go at tackling their sporting hero.
