Imagination was proud to be a founding sponsor of Createch Summit which took place in London on Tuesday 12 June 2018 as part of London Tech Week.

Organised by the Creative Industries Council, the conference showcased the international growth potential of the Createch sector and brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, artists and technologists to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by Createch now and in the future.

During the morning’s sessions, Nicola Mendelsohn, Facebook’s vice president for EMEA, announced she will be stepping down as co-chair of the CIC and named her successor to be BBC Studios' chief executive, Tim Davie.

“Nicola has done a fantastic job of building the recognition the sector so richly deserves for its contribution to the UK economy and steering us through the landmark sector deal,” Davie said, “I’m delighted to continue delivering this important work and look forward to working closely with Government and industry members.”

Corporate VP of Chinese tech giant Tencent discussed the Createch sector in China, and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) minister Matt Hancock delivered a speech about the UK’s flourishing creativity and the transforming power of technology.

Hancock said: “Our digital dynamos are also forging ahead. We have seen double the amount of tech investment over the last year and we are the third highest global investment location in tech after the USA and China. And only a few weeks ago London was once again ranked as the leading tech hub in Europe. I hope that you can play your part. In expanding and enhancing digital capability and ensuring that we tell our story around the world - yes for economic benefit, but also to make sure that our story is told.”

Imagination Global Chief Creative Officer Julian Baker and Global Chief Technology Officer Anton C E Christodoulou were delighted to be joined by Jaguar’s Design Director Ian Callum for their keynote session ‘Leveraging Technology Creatively for Consumer Engagement.’ They shared insights on the creative work that was delivered for Jaguar’s new all-electric I-PACE and how VR technology was used throughout the entire design process.

The programme of speakers also included Stef Calcraft, Dentsu Aegis; Jeremy Silver, Digital Catapult; Sarah Golding, THE & Partnership; and Luke Scott of Ridley Scott Creative Group
