About the Role
Imagination Sydney is seeking a passionate and driven Technical Production Co-ordinator to join our dynamic team, where you’ll gain hands-on experience and grow your expertise across all areas of event staging and technical (AV) production for live events with some of the biggest brands in the country.

This is an entry-level position where an understanding of event technology (lighting, sound, AV) and theatre production experience is an advantage along with a passion to learn,  a willingness to shadow experts in their field, be endlessly curious and have a desire to develop a career in technical direction within the live events industry and have the ambition to perform at the top of the industry.

This is a unique opportunity to work within an events agency where you will get hands-on experience creating events, collaborating with creative and production teams and being exposed to world-leading brands.


Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Collaborating: Work closely with creative, production, and technical teams to bring ideas to life.
  • Learning by Doing: Shadow experienced professionals to build your skills and confidence in live event production.
  • Problem Solving: Work with the Technical Director to find innovative solutions to challenges that arise during projects.
  • Onsite Support: Be an essential part of event execution, including working onsite and occasionally travelling for projects (up to 2 weeks away, over weekends, though typically shorter durations). 
  • Ensuring Quality: Take pride in delivering exceptional results that align with our standards of excellence.
  • Health & Safety: Learn and apply industry best practices to ensure the safety of our team, clients, suppliers, and guests at our experiences.
  • Adapting: Stay flexible and resourceful when faced with new challenges, keeping motivated and focused through a can-do attitude.

  • Technical Support – Ability to assist with AV, lighting, and sound setups.
  • Time Management – Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Health & Safety Awareness – Understanding and applying best practices for safe event execution.
  • Willingness to Learn – Enthusiastic approach to gaining hands-on experience and industry knowledge.

Knowledge

  • Event Technology Basics – Understanding of lighting, sound, and AV equipment.
  • Live Event Production – General knowledge of how events are staged and executed.
  • Theatre or Technical Production Experience – Advantageous but not essential.
  • Project Execution – Exposure to planning, setup, and breakdown of live events.
  • Creative Process – Understanding how technical production integrates with creative concepts.
