Communication Advisor

The Role – Overview

The Communication Analyst’s role is to assess Shell’s global communications materials (print, digital, film, 3D environments, etc.) against the various Brand and Visual Identity Policies. Communications will be submitted via an online submission tool for approval. It is the Communication Advisor’s responsibility to identify and approve ‘on-policy’ submissions and to provide helpful written feedback to ones needing amends. The Advisor will also provide coaching and training on policies and processes to Shell business areas and creative agency partners

The Communications Checkpoint team has a strong focus on collaborative working across our locations, sharing the volume of work and cascading information to ensure all team members are aware of new campaigns, changes to process and policy exceptions.

The Role – Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Working within the E-tool or the CCS inbox, review and respond to submissions
  • Assess submissions against VI Policy criteria
  • Approve compliant submissions
  • Inform non-compliant submissions as to the infringements and, where appropriate, suggest corrections
  • Consult with AskBrand and SBI on out-of-scope items
  • Log feedback and highlight common issues/problems
  • Identify trends in submissions by submitter area and markets (global/regional/single market) to provide better understanding and more effective support to Shell
  • Identify regions/agencies where further VI training is required and deliver that training when requested
  • Contribute to the selection of quality submissions to be put forward for a VI award
  • Supply Monthly APAC report and contribute to the production of Quarterly and Ad-Hoc reports, which are presented to the client by the VI Communications Manager and Local Lead in Mumbai. This presentation covers: submission statistics, best/worst examples, trends and insights
  • As a team propose ways in which future versions of the Policy and any processes can be improved

The Role – Experience and Skills Required:

  • Native Mandarin and excellent written and spoken English
  • Confident in presenting to and debating with small groups, face to face or via video conference, in English
  • Ability to check and respond to VI submissions in written English and Chinese
  • Previous experience of working with brands and visual identity
  • Previous experience of working remotely as part of a global team
  • Exceptional time management skills and be able to prioritise requests
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven problem solving ability to provide helpful feedback to submissions
  • Customer focused - you will be working with people around the world who may often be under tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Due to the global nature of this role, flexibility in working hours is required to meet client demands
  • Experience in managing and establishing brand consistency across all communications projects an advantage
  • Ideally successful applicants will demonstrate familiarity with design in all types of media (knowledge of print, digital, social, film and 3D environments) and have a good grasp of graphic design principles
